Uskmouth power plant begins biomass testing

UK-based power producer Simec Atlantis Energy (Simec) has begun testing biomass at its 220MW Uskmouth coal-to- biomass conversion power plant in Newport, south Wales. “A stable fame has been achieved in medium scale testing, proving the stable combustion of 100pc waste derived fuel pellets,” Simec said. The plant remains on track to be commercially operational by 2021, it added. The converted power station will have an operational life of 20 years.
