Biomass handling at Latvia’s port of Riga hit a new record high in the frst quarter of this year, bolstered by strong growth in wood chip-fred demand capacity. The port handled 373,000t of wood chips in the frst quarter, up by 30.4pc on the year and by 54.8pc on the three-year frst-quarter average of 241,000t. In March, throughput also rose by 54.8pc year on year to 113,000t.
