Poland’s Enea biomass burn grows in 1Q20

Polish utility Enea increased its biomass burn in the frst quarter of this year, as the 225MW dedicated biomass unit at its 1.9GW Polaniec power plant ran at near full capacity and biomass co-fring at its remaining coal-fred units increased. Enea burned 524,000t of biomass in the frst quarter, up by 13pc on the year, the company’s fnancial report shows. And Enea’s biomass generation — unlike its coal-fred output — did not decline despite falling Polish power demand.
