Spanish paving threatened by spending cuts

The outlook for the Spanish road paving industry remains uncertain as budget cuts and political paralysis constrain public works. The Spanish central road building directorate issued no contract offers for works in May as total tenders fell. Total road and civil engineering contract offers placed by state agencies - including central and regional authorities - were ?606mn ($671mn) in May, down by 47pc on the year and the 11th month in the last year contract offers have declined. This was the second month this year the directorate has issued no contract offers, as many as in 2015.
