Fifty years of the Institute of Virology in Bratislava, Slovak Republic

In 1953 the Institute of Virology (the Institute) has been established in the framework of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. The latter has located this new virus research center with competence for whole Czechoslovakia to Bratislava due to the incentive of Dionyz Blaskovic, that time the head of Virological Laboratory of the National Health Institute in Bratislava. He, together with coworkers from the laboratory, has moved to relatively large spaces of the new Institute, located at Mlynska dolina. In a few years many workers either from Slovak Republic or Czech Republic have joined the Institute.
