AdvanTek International LLC, a composites design and engineering firm based in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, USA, has gained a 2 million dollars grant to continue development of its Instantaneous Power Control (IPC) technology for wind turbine blades. IPC is a novel aerodynamic rotor blade design integrated with an active control system (sensors, high bandwidth actuators and a computer controller) that helps reduce the cost of wind energy by capturing more power at lower wind speeds and reducing structural loads at high wind speeds. As part of its on-going Advanced Technology Programme (ATP), the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), has awarded the grant.
