CD 117, also known as mast cell growth factor receptor and proto-oncogene c-Kit, is as a cell membrane receptor tyrosine protein consisting of an extracellular domain that functions as a receptor, and an intracellular domain that, upon receptor ligand binding, forms a ho-modimer and activates kinase activity. The ligand for CD 117 is stem cell factor (KIT-ligand), which induces cell survival, proliferation, and differentiation.1
