AEROSPACE/Space Shuttle investigation board makes recommendations

The investigation team examining the Columbia Space Shuttle accident has recommended that the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) develop and implement a comprehensive inspection plan to determine the structural integrity of all reinforced carbon-carbon (RCC) components used on future Space Shuttle Orbiter flights. The Columbia spacecraft was destroyed as it attempted to re-enter the earth's atmosphere on 1 February 2003, killing all seven astronauts on-board.
