Fokker of Papendrecht, The Netherlands, is working with Airbus and other partners to develop smart variants of its fibre metal laminates (FMLs), previously branded as Glare. This includes FMLs with integrated heating systems for the leading edges of future planes, those with embedded antennae, and composite structures that contain necessary wiring incorporated below their surface skins.
