The world's first thermoplastic oil tank for dry sump engines has been developed by Hummel-Formen using a reinforced polyamide (PA) from BASF. Weighing around 2.6 kg, the tank - which is fitted to the Mercedes-AMG GT - is 59% lighter than welded steel or aluminium constructions and features an integrated multi-functional oil separation system.
