Lehvoss North America of Pawcatuck, Connecticut, USA, has developed thermoplastic compounds for the production of gear wheels that are more resilient when compared with acetal, polyamide (PA) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) even at elevated temperatures. The company says that plastic gearing employed in the automotive industry is increasingly being subjected to demanding applications that experience high loads and operating temperatures.
