Injection-moulding process for continuous fibre-reinforced thermoplastics ready for commercialization

A process for the injection-moulding of continuous fibre-reinforced thermoplastic composites (CFRTCs) developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) and Engel Austria GmbH is ready for commercialization. The partners of Pfinztal, Germany, and Schwertberg, Austria, respectively, say that the process makes the high-volume production of CFRTCs via injection-moulding economically viable for the first time.
