Rarities of the Malay Peninsula: A note and update of significant historical information relating to the recording of Elymnias penanga f. johnsoni and Hidari bhawani in 1971

From an early age I (S. Swift) have been interested in the Lepidoptera, especially butterflies, and as a naval officer I had the opportunity of visiting various parts of the world rich in these insects. With thanks in no small part to the input and encouragement of my coauthor (J.W Phillips), this article recounts one of my most memorable periods collecting and studying these most majestic of insects, with specific reference to two of my most significant catches.
