A rapid curing epoxy resin, called MTR 760, has been developed by Solvay and has been used to manufacture the carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) bonnet for BMW's M4 GTS. According to Global Automotive Director of Solvay's Industrial Business Line, Composites Materials (formerly Cytec of Heanor, UK(1)), Alex Aucken, the bonnet has been developed in under 9 months in partnership with C-CON GmbH of Munich and automotive metal pressing specialist Lapple AG of Heilbronn, both in Germany.
