Impossible Objects of North Brook, Illinois USA, has added carbon fibre-reinforced polyetheretherketone (PEEK) to its three-dimensional (3D) printing range. The company claims that PEEK parts made with its 3D printing process are more than 50% lighter than comparable 6061-T6 aluminium parts, but demonstrate two-thirds the ultimate strength at 205 MPa versus 310 MPa.
