摘要

Conformal antennas play an important role in mobile communication and automotive sectors. These antennas are components, which are integrated on the final products that typically have curved surfaces like wings, bumpers, and so on. In radio communication and avionics, conformal antenna, which is designed to conform or follow some prescribed shape, is used to convert the electromagnetic waves to electronic signals. For instance, a flat antenna can be used that is mounted on or embedded in a curved surface. Many useful antenna designs are developed till today using various methodologies that utilize surface currents. The avionic antennas that are integrated into the military aircraft have replaced common antenna designs, which were projected from the surface of the aircraft and they helped in reducing the air drag. There is a continuous increase in the demand for telecommunications systems in airborne and ground-based vehicles every year. Hence, scientists are working to build antennas with increased efficiency by maintaining minimum weight.
