Advancements in the nanoscience arena have enabled the development of various types of innovative coatings, including nanostructured and superhydrophobic coatings. While superhydrophobic coatings have the ability to make a surface repel any liquid, thereby, enhancing the life of the surface, they are difficult to manufacture using a cost effective process. Companies across the globe are working towards pioneering the fabrication of effective and economical superhydrophobic coatings by applying nanoscience principles. The need to have surperhydrophobic surfaces is growing steadily. Niche applications, such as corrosion protection of electronic devices and protection of touch display panels are driving innovations in the hydrophobic coatings industry. There is a visible market need for superhydrophobic coating technologies and products.
