Increasing demand for functional, comfortable, and safe textile products necessitates development of new technologies for textile processing and treatment. One of the most intensively researched areas in textile industry is for producing durable, biocompatible, water repellent fabrics, characterized by low toxicity, and simple and mild methods of preparation. Among diverse water repellent materials, superhydrophobic surfaces have attracted significant attention due to the wide range of their potential applications and multifunctional properties. The main approach in superhydrophobic coating is the incorporation of nanoparticles in wet-chemical coatings or compounds. However, conventional nanocoating materials applied to textiles (for dyeing, stain repellence, flame retardancy, antibacterial treatments and so on) generally contain harmful chemicals, such as, perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs).
