A sincere attempt has been made to compile this review paper for documenting the evolutionary sequence of agroforestry innovations. The chronology of genesis and development of agroforestry has been elucidated in a timeline format. The review of agroforestry research has also been illustrated; with a view to help the scientists and other stakeholders in effective future planning for a much more gainful execution of this innovative land use option.
