SolarPA (Pennsylvania, USA), a solar cell technology developing company aiming at better efficiencies, has collaborated with Solar Power Industries (Pennsylvania, USA), and deployed its nanocrystal coating on solar cells. This coating is believed to increase the efficiency of the solar cells by 11.5% and also reduce the costs involved. Thus, higher returns are assured for the shareholders. The company was incorporated in 2010 and its coating technology based on a nanomaterial/polymer matrix can be used on a completed solar cell. The technology not only enhances yield, it also provides an opportunity for the partly efficient solar cells, which include those at 15% efficiency to be installed into a panel. The company has been evaluating several technologies to install its nanocoat during the manufacture. The examined techniques include dip coating and screen printing. The application of the coating does not interfere with the production line as it is applied only after the construction of the cell.
