摘要

The exceptional mechanical properties of titanium nitride (TiN) coatings, such as high hardness, good wear resistance, and low friction, drives their applications as hard coatings for metal cutting. However, the application of TiN coatings in high temperature is limited due to its oxidation habits during metal cutting in air. Therefore, much research has been conducted to improve this drawback such as integrating aluminum (Al) along with alloying elements such as yttrium (Y), chromium (Cr), and vanadium (V) to increase the oxidation resistance to obtain a lower wear rate and friction coefficient.
