Rapid development of a lumbar juxtafacet cyst causing conus medullaris syndrome

Symptomatic juxtafacet cysts are rare lesions in the spinal canal, most frequently found in the lumbar region [5]. Clinical presentation often mimics the symptomatology of lumbar disc herniation with nerve root compression. Cyst development and location seem to be associated with spinal instability and osteoarthritis [1, 5, 7, 9]. The time course in which these cysts develop has not been described in the literature.
