Letter to the editor of Acta Neurochirurgica: Intracranial venous drainage of a lumbar spinal dural arteriovenous fistula

We would like to report the findings of intracranial venous drainage of a spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (sDAVF). While intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas have long been recognized to have spinal venous drainage with characteristic myelopathy, to the best of our knowledge, intracranial venous drainage of a spinal AVF has not been previously documented [2, 3]. A 73 year old man was discovered to have a L4 (sDAVF) with retrograde intracranial drainage to the deep venous system (Fig. 1). This lesion was found incidentally during aortic angiography for repair of an abdominal aneurysm endo-leak.
