The dimeric units (RhCl2(Hhmp)(hmp)](2), where Hhmp and limp are 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine and anionic deprotonated ligand, respectively, is formed by strong hydrogen bonding interactions between pairs of Hhmp and hmp ligands that act as building blocks and self-assemble remarkably through aromatic pi-pi and CH/-pi interactions to generate a nanoporous supramolecular structure exhibiting permanent porosity and selective adsorption properties.
