Shell gets Nigerian shallow tenders after bid bond demands

The contractors shortlisted to compete for the FEED for Shell's HI project off Nigeria finally put in their delayed tenders last week after some had balked at the operator's bid bond demands. Shell had initially set a deadline of October 11 but only a few days before this decided to tell companies that they would have to hand over a US $5m bid bond that they would forfeit if they won the full EPCIC contract and the final price was higher than that submitted in the pre-FEED. A day later this was raised to $7.5m and Shell then agreed to a one week extension as companies reworked their figures.
