Ghana clears up licensing awards

Ghana ironed out uncertainties about its upcoming licensing round by confirming that six blocks will be offered this year and another three next year. All the acreage will be in successful western waters and of the six to be awarded this year, three will be open for competitive bidding and two will be awarded via direct negotiation. The final one will be handed to national oil company GNPC to find a foreign partner to help improve its technical skills although GNPC will remain as operator.
