Oriental finds oil in Afren's Ebok Deep target

Oriental Energy Resources said it will move to development quickly after uncovering more oil in two deep prospects in its infamous Ebok field off Nigeria.The company started appraisal drilling in the North Fault block of the field early this year with the aim of testing the potential of the deeper stratigraphic levels.Former partner Afren was originally looking to test Ebok Deep in 2015 to target 50m bbl of reserves in deeper Qua Iboe and Bi-afra reservoirs below the producing field.However,this never happened as Afren collapsed following corruption investigations into its senior officers.It was found that they had asked Oriental to pay 15% of all net cash flow into a British Virgin Islands account in exchange for facilitating US $300m in funding by Afren to Oriental.
