Nigeria has now delayed the bid deadline for its gas flare commercialisation programme until later this month. The programme opened in November with the aim of ending the flaring of 700 MMcf/d of gas from 178 sites by 2021. In March more than 800 expressions of interest were received but only 226 bids were backed by the necessary payment by the end of the deadline and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) prequalified 205 that met commercial and technical standards.
