Swedish truck maker Scania, part of Volkwagen's only recently formed VW Truck & Bus subsidiary, was found guilty of breaking EU antitrust rules and now faces a fine of {EUR}880m. A European Commission investigation first launched to investigate whether Europe's truck makers were operating a truck cartel, embracing illegal price fixing and other illicit activity, has found that Scania colluded for 14 years with five other truck manufacturers on truck pricing and on passing on the cost of new technologies to meet stricter emission rules.
