This year's numerically impressive gains in US Light-vehicle sales are at least partly the result of temporary market distortions, such as the double-digit gains from some leading Japanese carmakers, who are continuing to run at full tilt in order to make up at least partly for the sales lost in the US after last year's Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
