Parent's Roles towards the Family and Their Relationship with Family Climate and Children AdjustmentA Field Study in Rural Areas of Menoufiya Governorate

This study aimed basically at identifying the types of parent's roles toward the family and their relationship with both family climate and children adjustment, and identifying the most important correlates and determinants of parent's roles types, family climate and children adjustment. The study was carried out in two villages in Menoufiya governorate , the first village was Meetmasoad which belongs to Shebien Elkom district and the second village was Saftgedam which belongs to Tala district. A sample of 90 rural women were selected randomly from each village. Data were collected through personal interviews with respondents. The simple correlation Coefficients, multiple correlation and regression (step-wise) analysis, , percentages, range, mean, standard deviation, reliability estimate, t-test, f-test, one-way anova, Scheffe-test, Eta squared, were used to analyze the data with SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). The most important findings of the study were:In general, 76% from respondents had a high performance degree of roles towards their families, while about 63% of their husbands had a high performance degree from the point of view of respondents.The most independent variables affecting the family climate, respectively, were the role of wives towards their husbands, the role of mothers towards their children, women feeling of community satisfaction, the role of the heads of families in the home administration, the role of fathers toward their children, and women's education. These variables explained about 52% of the variance of the family climate.The most independent variables affecting the children adjustment, respectively, were the role of mothers toward their children, the role of husbands toward their wives, women's education, roles of heads of families in the home administration, monthly income for women, and role of wives toward their husbands. These variables explained about 38% of the variance of the children adjustment.Finally, some recommendations were suggested.
