Experiments were conducted to study the effect of different levels of phosphorus (0, 20, 30 and 40 kg P2O5 ha(-1)) and biofertilizer treatments [not inoculated control and Rhizobium (Rhizobium leguminosarum) + plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR, Pseudomonas fluorescens) in 2013-14, and not inoculated control, Rhizobium, PGPR and Rhizobium + PGPR in 2014-15] on nutrient content, nutrient uptake and nutrient use efficiency of lentil. Application of 40 kg P2O5 he resulted in maximum uptake of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) by lentil. Among biofertilizers, the highest N, P and K uptake by lentil was recorded in the consortium (Rhizobium + PGPR) treatment. Agronomic efficiency, partial factor productivity and percentage recovery decreased with successive increases in phosphorus level. Among biofertilizers, the highest agronomic efficiency, partial factor productivity, crop recovery efficiency and percentage recovery were recorded in Rhizobium + PGPR followed by PGPR.
