摘要

This paper proposes two energy active protocols H-MAC and S-MAC approaching for wireless sensor networks. WSN are basically composed of sensor devices which rely solely on restricted power source and cooperate for monitoring the location as well as for communication. Due to this energyconstraint, the available energy must be used carefully by sidestepping needless energy consuming operations. At MAC layer energy efficiency is more important due to significant amount of overheads for radio communication. These energy conceding features of sensor networks inspire need ofenergy management at medium access control (MAC). MAC protocols carry out a vital role to regulate the operation of radio and it dramatically disturbs the energy ingesting in the entire network. Both proposed protocols are energy effective medium access protocols designed for IEEE 802.11.4.In this work, investigation of two energy effective MAC protocols has been carried out along with depicting their merits and demerits. The protocols are investigated for performance comparison using various parameters including Average Jitter and Packet Delivery Ratio, Throughput, End to Enddelay, Energy Consumption. Execution study is carried out on the simulation tool utilizing QualNet.
