Design Study of Shared Kitchen with Social Interaction in Vertical Housing

Generally, the kitchen is a part of a dwelling. But in this vertical housing which type 18 m~(2), kitchen was located separately. The kitchen was located together in a somewhere with another kitchen from another dwelling. This is called shared kitchen. In this case, a sharedkitchen is not just a place to cook and prepare food, but also can be used for social interaction with neighbours. Many activities involve social interaction which is performed in the shared kitchen, for example, preparing meals for the celebration, gathering consumption, even just talking.Therefore, it needed a new design concept of shared kitchen in vertical housing that can support joint activities by dwellers, especially, dwellers of vertical housing. This study aims to provide recommendations for Government on a shared kitchen design that is appropriate for apartment dwellers.In addition, a good design will support life in neighboring and social interaction occupants of the vertical housing.
