Markforged of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, is introducing two three-dimensional (3D) printers for carbon fibre-reinforced parts that it claims are fast and cheap. The X3 and X5 models are aimed at smaller manufacturers that are often at a disadvantage because they are forced to choose between the sub-par strength of conventional printed parts and the long lead times associated with machined parts. With the X3 and X5 printers, Markforged says it is making industrial-strength printing financially attainable for every manufacturing business.
