It is shown that the transmission function of an acousto-optic device remains unchanged for variations in the acoustic drift angle and acoustic column width when the distance traveled by the incident light in the acoustic column is maintained. In some cases, this invariance simplifies theoretical analysis of acousto-optic interaction.
