CHATS-AS 2011 Editorial

The 9th CHATS in Applied Superconductivity Workshop was held in. the stimulating environment of CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, on 12-14th October 2011. In line with the previous editions, and maintaining its much appreciated informal character, CHATS-AS 2011 was a pleasant and effective way of sharing knowledge, experience and progress on modeling and simulation of thermal, hydraulic, and electrical phenomena in technical applications of superconductivity. The 57 participants, a relatively large number for this edition of CHATS-AS, presented contributions on Heat Transfer (Session 1), Stability and Quench (Session 2), Electromagnetic Models and Methods (Session 3), and System Analysis and Multi-physiCs (Session 4), covering both LTS and HTS materials. A total of 18 papers were submitted for publication, and the reader will find them in this special issue of Cryogenics.
