The complete chloroplast genome sequence of an endangered species, Emphasis Type='Italic'>Dendrobium pendulum/Emphasis> Roxb. (Orchidaceae)

Dendrobium pendulum Roxb. (Orchidaceae) is an endangered ornamental plant. We report here the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of D. pendulum. D. pendulum is 153,248?bp in length. The complete cp genome sequence has a typical quadripartite structure, comprising a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 26,398?bp, a large single-copy (LSC) region of 85,852?bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 14,600?bp. The chloroplast genome contains 131 genes (124 unique), including 78 protein-coding genes, 8 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and 38 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes. The overall GC content of the whole genome is 37.5%. The phylogenetic analysis suggested that the D. pendulum is mostly related taxa with Dendrobium officinale which forms a sister group to the Dendrobium.
