Stocks and confidence in Chinese demand growth pushes copper price higher

The LME 3M copper price has seen steep gains over the last month. At the time of writingthe LME 3M copper price was at $6,480 /t, up from sub-$6,000 /t seen at the start of the year.This month, we investigate what evidence there is that the bounce back is justified on afundamental basis or whether this is a speculator driven spike that will fade as the yearprogresses.
