Weight gain restriction for obese pregnant women.

We would like to comment on the short report by Storck Lindholm et al. published in the latest issue of Acta Obstetricia & Gynecologica (2010;89:840-3). The authors have investigated the possibility to control weight gain during pregnancy in obese women. Neither in the Introduction, nor in the Discussion of the paper are there any references to other studies with the same research question. Instead, the readers of this paper get the impression that the authors present a new and possible intervention program. They conclude that an early intervention program may be successful in helping obese women control weight gain during pregnancy with adverse perinatal outcomes.
