摘要

[Objectives] Japan Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (JAOG) has been monitoring congenital birth defects since 1972 based on the nation-wide registry. The topic of this study is to clarify the recent trend of prenatal diagnosis for congenital anomalies in Japan by analyzing the database of Japan Birth Defects Registry. [Methods] For JAOG Birth Defects Registry database of 1,214,922 total births during the 1999-2013, we analyzed birth defects monitoring data according to four divided participating facilities (364,183 births at General Perinatal Medical Center (GPMC), 427,478 births at Local Perinatal Medical Center (LPMC), 393,961 births at Hospital, and 29,300 births at Clinic). [Results and Conclusions] Among these group data, we obtained that the infants with spina bifida, cleft lip, and aortic stenosis, which are usually prenatally found during pregnancy, were registered mainly at GPMC along with recent trend. On the other hand, the infants with a polydactyly, which is scarcely to find out by prenatal diagnosis, were reported from four participated facilities. We concluded that the recent precise prenatal diagnosis system has made a wide varied prevalence of birth defects in obstetric facilities in Japan. JAPG program is now seeking for the standardizing monitoring system based on this new trend. [Acknowledgments] This monitoring was funded by the JAOG- Ogya Donation Foundation. This survey and research study were also supported by the grant from Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development. We are deeply grateful to the supports.
