As economies tentatively ease lockdown restrictions and business activity gears up to return to normal, the risk of a potentially slow and bumpy recovery looms large. Concerns surround the longer-term consequences of high unemployment and increasingly debt-laden companies, as well as the threat of a second wave of coronavirus outbreaks. The economy is forecast to perform even worse in the second quarter but is set for a significant bounce back later this year and into 2021.Countries such as Spain, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Germany and India have tentatively eased lockdown measures this week, allowing some businesses to reopen. In the US, states have geared up to restart their economies with California, the world’s fifth largest economy, allowing some retailers to open.
