AWACS - The Airborne Warning and Control System

AWACS platforms will receive over $6.0 billion in funding during the 2020 through 2029 period. U.S. RDT&E spending will drive O&M implementation worldwide. Funding will slowly decline as Block 40/45 upgrades are completed over the next six to seven years but will then rise as new upgrades are developed and implemented. The Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) platforms are equipped with APY-1 or APY-2 radars. The aircraft provide all-altitude air surveillance, threat warning, and control of theater air forces.
