It's not just the recent stock market crash in China that has caused jitters throughout the Chinese lead-acid battery industry. Competition from lithium-ion is stiffening as the surge of electric vehicles (EVs) into the market gathers momentum; a five-year crackdown on lead-acid battery factories has resulted in mass factory closures; and a 4% consumption tax being introduced at the beginning of next year are sure to have an impact, say some experts.
