Ecobat president calls time on lobbyists

Ecobat Technologies president Ray Kubis used the 16th Asian Battery Conference to plead with lithium lobbyists to halt efforts to ban lead as part of the European End of Life vehicle directive. The directive sets targets for reuse, recycling and recovery of materials from vehicles ready to be scrapped, and forces manufacturers to produce new vehicles without so-called hazardous substances, including lead, although lead in batteries was exempted for a further five years at the end of 2014.
