Exports of spent lead-acid batteries to Mexico have returned after a new report highlighting environmental risks received mainstream media attention last month. The report, published by Occupational Knowledge (OK) International, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organisation that advocates the improvement of public health, detailed poor recycling practices in Mexico and called on private companies and government agencies to voluntarily cease all battery exports to Mexico.
