The UK electricity supply system has seen major changes this year. Overall electricity production in the UK for the second quarter of 2020 was nearly 11% lower than the comparable figure for the previous year. Industrial consumption of electricity was down 17% and overall consumption was down by nearly 13%, based on the figures recently published by The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Generation from renewable resources rose by 11.5 % for the same period, boosted by 30% increase in offshore wind production.
