Construction remains largely manual,while manufacturing and other industries have made significant progress in the use of digital,sensing and automation technologies.As a result,construction is suffering from poor productivity gains(Figure 1).Many of us are starting to witness the wide availability of 3D printers using polymers and metals.3D printing was made famous by the former US President Barak Obama during his State of the Union Address as a technology that has’the potential to revolutionize the way we make almost everything’.Construction industry innovators are seeing this as a perfect timing for adopting this technology also for concrete.
