EAGLE 'FLAG'

The second 'Red Flag' of 2019 took place from March 11-22, with a decidedly international feel and a wealth of F-15 Eagle participants. THE SECOND 'RED Flag' of the year (19-2) was something of a 'festival of Eagles' with no fewer than four separate F-15 units taking part. Debutants were the brand-new F-15SAs of the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF), six aircraft being delivered direct from the production line in St Louis, Missouri, for the exercise. It was the first time the new 'Saudi Advanced' Eagles had been involved. The RSAF made significant noises about the stint at Nellis, a significant work-up being carried out back at Tabuk Air Base, the home of the first operational F-15SA wing. The aircraft wore the markings of the 29th Squadron and were flying alongside Republic of Singapore Air Force F-15SGs from the 428th Fighter Squadron at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. In addition, the 122nd Fighter Squadron, Louisiana Air National Guard, was present with eight F-15Cs, including three loaned from the 194th FS, California ANG. Seymour Johnson's 4th Fighter Wing deployed F-15Es to Nellis en masse for both the 'Red Flag' and the concurrent 'Green Flag' close air support exercise, which also saw the Royal Air Force Typhoons that had participated in '19-1' remaining at the Nevada base to be manned by No 3(F) Squadron.
