THE NIMITZ-CLASS AIRCRAFT carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) departed its home port at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, at the start of an around-the-world deployment on March 11. While deployed the carrier strike group (CSG) will conduct operations in the US Navy's 5th, 6th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. The Roosevelt will formally change its home port to San Diego, California, at the conclusion of the deployment on November 15, 2015. Moving the 'TR' to San Diego is part of an ongoing rotation of forces that will also see the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) being re-located to Yokosuka, Japan, while the USS George Washington (CVN 73) will move to Norfolk for deep maintenance and refueling.
